For iPhone 5 owners who want to upgrade to a phone that’s identical to the phone they already have.

you can convert it to a 6 mini:

After going through several cycles of Apple’s planned obsolescence, I am sick of my iPod Touches and iphones getting slower and slower with every update. I love iOS but fuck Apple mobile hardware. Finally got to un DRM my eBooks from my itunes and I was so happy.

Went through this with my 4th gen iPod touch. Just got slower and slower then after a year the battery started rapidly declining. Happened to my mates iPhone 5 and parents 4s too. None lasted more than two years in good working nick regardless of care.

I liked my 5s, probably more than my 6+, because of the flat sides. But I can't go back to that tiny screen...give me a flat sided 6+ and I might never need another phone (until iOS updates me to bolivian, as Mike Tyson might say).

Except not really. It’s a 6s in the body of a 5s, minus 3D touch. I’m planning on getting one, but then I’m upgrading from a 5c.

Except that it’s not identical.

I will get one of these in the fall when I’m done paying for my 5S. I want to have a phone to hand down to my kids, and the 5S will be perfect for them. I could have gotten a 6 back in the day, but it’s too damned big. I predict Apple will sell a ton of these.

I just wish there was a 32 GB option. 16 GB is not enough space and 64 GB is too expensive.

My iPod touch 4 lasted me from Christmas of 2011 to early summer of 2014, and that’s because I got a 5c in summer. It didn’t even stop working until a year later.

Exactly. Apple isn’t stupid. It’s like my phone data plan. I’m paying for 20GB, but I only use about 10GB. The next plan down is only 5GB. So you can get 5 or 20. AT&T knows that most people will use 8-12, so they just don’t make it available, and force people to get more, and pay more, for something they don’t need.

I have unlimited data so I don’t really have to worry about that but I’ve used like 115 GB or so since July 2014.

I can’t get to 20GB/month even when I tether my laptop for three days while on the road. I think the most I’ve ever used was on a three-week vacation, and that was like 12GB.

Strange, that doesn’t seem to be affecting iPads. My 3 from 2012 is still pretty great when it comes to battery and speed, no need to update to a newer model. running iOS 9.3 now

That’s surprising. You don’t watch much YouTube or what?

Nope. I have a TV/computer for that. My son, on the other hand, watches tons of YT on his phone, but only at home on the wifi.

I’m actually interested in it. I like the 5S size and would love to have the better tech inside the 6S.

It’s just $100 difference. And you seem to keep a phone for quite a while. Get the 64 GB one.

It’d be paid off over some of duration of the contract and I have 20 months between upgrades so I have to stick with one thing for awhile.

That’s what I said.
Although as an Android guy, I can’t understand why you’d want 4 inches of screen in 2016.

iPads are the lone exception.....Apple overbuilt them. They last a lot longer. So people don’t replace them.

Because 4.7 is too much and 6S is too much $

Apple people are a bunch of assholes for eliminating the 32 GB option.
They’re doing it so people who want an iPhone and can barely afford it will swing for the 16GB, while anyone who doesn’t have to sell an arm and a leg for their beloved iPhone will get the 64GB.
Unless phone career whips and chains (contract) excite you.

I have a Nexus 5X (converted from five different iPhone 4 > two different iPhone 5 > and one lone iPhone 6). Honestly, as much as I’d adore a yuuuuuge screen phone, I do get great enjoyment out of a smaller form factor.
